WATERVILLE, ME- #8 Thomas College (4-21 overall, 4-14 NAC) will travel to #1 Castleton (22-3 overall, 17-1 NAC) in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball quarterfinal at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, February 25.
How they got here:
Thomas enters the NAC tournament with four conference victories, defeating Green Mountain twice, and gaining a win over Johnson State at home on 12/7 after being down at halftime and having six lead changes in the second half.
Castleton heads into the playoffs with a conference best 22-3 (17-1 NAC) record, with their only losses coming to Williams (11/23), Westfield (1/14), and Colby-Sawyer (2/12).
The last time the two met:
The Terriers fell to Castleton 83-42 the last time these two met with Jade Desroches leading the game with 21 points for the Spartans and Katie McAllister scoring 14 in the loss.
Castleton comes into this game winning the last ten matchups against the Terriers, with the last Thomas victory coming on Jan. 20, 2010 71-70 in OT.
This is a rematch of last season's quarterfinal matchup as Castleton came away with 73-35 victory in route to a NAC Championship appearance.
The Spartans have had supremacy in the NAC, making it to the championship game the last five seasons and winning two championships.
Head Coach Dan Leland is in his first season at Thomas. Prior to his tenure at Thomas, Coach Leland served as the head women's basketball coach at University of Maine at Machias, leading the Clippers to a 27-11 record and a trip to the Elite 8 of the USCAA National Championship last season.
Castleton Head Coach Tim Barrett, in his 13th season has won three conference championships ('03, '09, '12) in his tenure on the bench for the Spartans, while garnering coach of the year honors three times ('03, '08, '12). On the court he has coached the NAC Player of the Year three times and has had 18 players earn first or second-team all-conference honors.

Katie McAllister contributes with a team-leading 10.5 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 16 assists for Thomas. Senior Elizabeth Goodall is averaging 7.8 points per game for the Terriers, while assisting 27 and averaging 2.6 RPG.
Senior Alyssa Leonard is averaging a team-high 13.8 points for the Spartans, with 84 assits, and averaging 6.4 RPG. Junior Jade Desroches contributes an average of 12.4 points per game while having 74 assists and 3.8 RPG.
