BANGOR, ME – The Husson University women's basketball team defeated the Thomas College Terriers by a final score of 64-34 in both teams' first contest in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-1 (1-0 NAC) on the young season, while the Terriers drop to 0-6 (0-1 NAC).
Leading the charge for the Eagles was Victoria McIntyre, tallying a game-high 12 points and 5 rebounds in limited action shooting 50% from the field on 5-10 shooting.
Thomas started off the game with a 6-0, until Husson made their first field-goal on a Chrissy Larrabee lay-up. The Eagles tied the game at 11-11 on a McIntyre basket, and took the lead shortly after on a jumper by Samira Cruz. Guerrette closed out the half with a three-pointer Johnson with five seconds remaining to stretch the hosts lead to a double digit margin and send them into the break leading 29-18.
Husson kicked off the half with a barrage of three pointers and well-timed steals that led the Eagles to victory. The Eagles trapped the Thomas offense, limiting them in the attacking end.
Thomas will host Lyndon State on Friday December 6th at 7:30 PM to resume conference play.
