FH: Terriers Open Season with 2-1 Win Over Gordon

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team opened their season with a 2-1 victory over Gordon College on Saturday afternoon on Bernatchez Field.

Thomas opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Danita Storey (Cumberland, Maine) tipped a pass from Haley Thebarge (Smithfield, Maine) into the goal to take the 1-0 lead. Gordon evened the score in the final minutes of the first half with a goal off a penalty corner by Cara Goudie assisted by Natalie Adamez.

Thomas scored the game-winner in the beginning of the fourth quarter when Allie Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) picked up a rebound out in front and buried the goal for the 2-1 victory.

Leah Kruse (Skowhegan, Maine) earned the win in the cage for Thomas, stopping one of two shots. Julia Altman made eight saves in the loss.

Thomas will host crosstown rival Colby on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:00 PM on Bernatchez Field.
