WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas College field hockey, under the instruction of 6th year Head Coach Andrea Thebarge continued to make great strides during the 2013 season.
The Terriers kicked off the year with a thrilling, 3-2 victory in their season-opener against Nichols. Thomas would be defeated by non-conference opponents Bridgewater State and Bates before getting back to the .500 mark with a 3-0 win against Johnson & Whales.
The squad kicked off conference play, defeating New England College, 3-0 on the road. After going back and forth with a wins and losses, the Red and Black lost four conference games but were able to finish the regular season on a strong note with two conference triumphs over Rivier and Lasell.
Thomas concluded their 2013 season strong with two conference wins, the last being against Lasell College, 3-2. The season came to a close however as the six-seeded Terriers fell to #3 Husson in a tough fought, 2-1 loss in Bangor.
On average, Thomas had 15.8 shots on goal, a .119 shot percentage, a .699 save percentage, and a total of 30 goals on the season over 17 contests.
The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) named senior Lauren Hachey and junior Brittany Premo to the All-Conference 2nd Team. Premo had 15 points, while playing in all 17 games and having a team leading 59 shots. Hachey tallied 15 points on the year, with six goals and three assists.
The year signals the end for the careers of seniors Hachey, Callie Joseph, Miranda Tinsman, Jasmine Bishop, and Sofia Sourgiadakis, who were all instrumental in the growth of the Thomas field hockey program.
