Thomas Falls to Eagles in NAC Quarterfinals, 2-1

BANGOR, ME – Thomas field hockey concluded their 2013 season, falling to Husson in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinals.

#6 Thomas fell to 7-10 to end the year, while #3 Husson (10-7) advances to the semifinal round.

The Terriers struck first in the contest, as Michelle Greene received a pass from Brittany Premo and beat the Eagles keeper for the go-ahead tally at the 10:30 mark of the first half. Thomas would contain the lead until 30:21 when Sabrina Vaillancourt's goal brought the score to a 1-1 deadlock that would stay going into halftime.

It would be Vaillancourt again just five minutes into the closing stanza that would be the eventual game-winner. Thomas continued to put pressure on the Eagle's to try and even the score, but were held to just six shots in the second half.

Overall, Husson outshot the Terriers 26-14 with 18 of the shots coming in the closing period. The Eagles also held a 17-12 edge in penalty corners.

Sofia Sourgiadakis made 13 saves in the losing effort, while her counterpart Kaitlin Dolloff registered four stops.

The loss signals the end of the collegiate field hockey careers for Lauren Hachey, Callie Joseph, Miranda Tinsman, Jasmine Bishop, and Sourgiadakis.
