Women's Tennis Concludes Season with Loss to MCLA

BELGRADE, Maine – The Thomas College women's tennis team concluded the 2017 season with an 8-1 loss to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Sunday afternoon at the New England Golf and Tennis Camp.

The Terriers season ends at 2-7 (2-5) overall while the Trailblazers claim the fourth in final North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament at 5-7 (4-3 NAC).  Before the match, Head Coach Eddie Mathews recognized seniors Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine) and Madison Bentz (Algonquin, Ill.).

In doubles play, Mora and Irune Arruti Moreno (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) fell just short in number one action at 9-7.  On the number two line, Bentz and Sadie Farrand (Norridgewock, Maine) were defeated 8-3 while Alexis Raymond (Dover-Foxcroft) and Rebecca Kennett (Freeport, Maine) also dropped an 8-3 match in threes.

Mora just missed forcing a third set on the one line as she fell 6-3, 7-5.  Bentz earned the lone victory for Thomas in number five singles as she won 6-4, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).
