WATERVILLE, ME – Senior goalkeeper Paige Leary (Palmero, Maine / Erskine Academy) turned aside 27 shots for the Thomas College women's soccer team in 5-0 loss to Curry on Monday night at Smith Field.
The loss drops the Terriers to 0-2 in the early season while Curry stays unbeaten at 3-0. Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) scored two goals and chipped in with two assists for the Colonels.
Curry got on the board early in the first half at the sixth minute mark when Lima beat Leary for her first goal of the game on a one-time feed from Samantha McGrath (Carver, Mass.). Lima would add another for the visitors just 12 minutes later on a pass from Korinna Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead going into the half.
Just over a minute into the second half, Curry increased their lead on a goal from Tsonis who was setup on a pass by Lima. At the 57th minute, Lima earned her second assist of the game on a goal by McGrath. Scoring for the contest finished at 5-0 for the Colonels as Amanda Crisfulla (Raynham, Mass.) scored on a feed from Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.)
Leary was given the loss in goal for the Terriers after an amazing 27 save performance while Morgan Stott was given the win in goal for Curry, stopping just one shot. Morgan was relieved in the contest by Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.).
The Terriers will return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 7, as they travel to Saint Joseph's (Maine) for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
