Terriers Comeback Bid Falls Short in Loss to Regis

WESTON, MA – Thomas College was unable to defeat Regis College despite their comeback attempt, falling 17-12 in a non-conference women's lacrosse tilt on Thursday evening. The Terriers, who trailed by ten goals with 11 minutes remaining, tallied five straight goals to cut the deficit to five.

With the loss, Thomas falls to 2-3 on the season, while the Pride improve to 2-2.

The beginning of the game began with both teams exchanging goals on two different occasion. Regis would then however go on a 7-0 run to jump out to a 9-2 advantage. Neither team found the back of the net for over ten minutes before Thomas junior Jennifer Day put up another tally on a feed by Joanna Murch. Both teams exchanged goals once more to go into halftime with a 10-4 margin for the home side.

Regis pulled the game out of reach in the second with another scoring barrage, scoring five straight starting at 26:05 to extend their lead to 10 points. Thomas would not go out with a fight though, responding with five goals to finish out the contest.

Day led the Terriers with three goals and three assists, while Miranda Tinsman chipped in with a hat trick of her own, along with one helper.

Brittany Fox registered six saves on 23 shots in net while suffering the loss for the Red and Black.

Thomas will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to in-state foe University of New England for an 11:00 AM contest.
