Terriers Shutout Top-Seeded Husson in NAC Tournament Opener

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College softball team opened the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament with a 2-0 shutout victory over top-seeded Husson University in game one.

The Terriers move on to game four at 4:00 p.m. as they face the winner of Castleton and New England College for a spot in the championship round.

The Terriers got a runner on in the fifth as MacKenzie Oberholzer (Greencastle, Pa.) reached on a walk.  After she was moved over on a sacrifice bunt, Lexi Colpack (Franklin, N.H.) dropped in a single to right field to break open the game at 1-0.  Anna Piirainen (West Paris, Maine) followed with a double down the left field line to score Colpack to make it 2-0.

Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) held the Eagles off the board all contest while holding a 2-0 lead in the last three frames.  She allowed four hits while striking out three.  Jen Jones shouldered the loss for Husson in seven innings, six hits, and two runs.
