WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced its softball weekly awards and sophomore Sydney LeBourveau (Jericho, Vt.) has been named Player and Pitcher of the Week while freshman Lauren Farina (Schenectady, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
LeBourveau was selected as the Tournament MVP over the weekend as she led the Terriers to their first conference championship since 2004. On the mound, the sophomore threw three complete game victories, giving up just three runs, while striking out nine. At the plate, LeBourveau batted .500 (5-for-10) with three doubles, and three RBI. Her double in the bottom of the sixth inning scored the game-winning run in the championship game.
Farina was named to the NAC All-Tournament Team after the Terriers went a perfect 3-0 to claim the conference crown. The rookie batted .333 (3-for-9), knocked in three RBI, and recorded a .556 slugging percentage. In a 5-3 win against Husson, her two-RBI double tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth after trailing 2-0. She added another RBI double in the sixth inning to extend the Terriers lead to two runs.
The Terriers will open begin NCAA Tournament play on Friday, May 12 as they take on the host team, Williams College, at 3:30 p.m.
