STOWE, Vt. – The Thomas College men's tennis team swept Lyndon State College, 9-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers winning streak improve to nine matches as they sit at 10-4 (5-0 NAC) while the Hornets drop to 2-10 (1-5 NAC)
The Terriers completed a sweep in doubles play as Ryan Chasse (Fort Kent, Maine) and Zachary Disch (Waterville, Maine) defeated Tyler Hall and Jake LaCerda, 8-2, on the one line. In number two action, Jared Waterhouse (Dayton, Maine) and Kaleb Payson (Lamoine, Maine) took down Dylan Cherko and Michael Sigsbury, 8-3. Ross Munn (Brunswick, Maine) and Mark Amato (Manchester Conn.) finished with an 8-0 shutout victory over Neal Mulligan and Bradley Shumway.
Thomas kept the momentum going into singles play as Chasse defeated Hall in number one singles 6-0, 6-2. Munn took the win in number twos, dropping LaCerda 6-2, 6-3 while Disch cruised past Sigsbury 6-2, 6-1. In number four singles, Waterhouse made quick work of Cherko 6-2, 6-2 while Payson handed Mulligan a 6-0, 6-0 defeat. Amato wrapped up singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ken Niemann.
The Terriers will face the defending NAC Champions in Colby-Sawyer tomorrow on the road at 1:00 p.m. The winner will earn the number one seed in the NAC East Tournament.
