WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team allowed six second quarter goals in a tough 9-7 loss to Husson University on Wednesday as part of the Terriers' senior day.
In the defeat, the Terriers now sit at 2-6 (1-4 NAC) while the Eagles creep near .500 at 3-5 (2-1 NAC).
The Eagles offense was led by four goal performance from Brooks Gay while Zach Glazier and Jacob Boothby contributed with a pair of goals. Chad Miller caused six turnovers and scooped up 13 groundballs.
Junior Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt.) tallied four goals for Thomas and picked up seven groundballs. Johnathan Wilcox (Palmyra, Maine), Harry Heald (Georgetown, Maine), and Jacob Kendall (Lewiston, Maine) each scored a goal in the effort.
The Terriers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter on goals from Blondin and Kendall.
Husson's offense exploded for six goals in the second quarter, including two goals and three assists from Glazier. Blondin added his second of the game for a 6-3 Husson advantage at the break.
Wilcox scored the lone goal of the third quarter for Thomas as they cut the lead down to 6-4.
Blondin looked to get the Terriers back in the game early in the fourth, bringing his team within one. Late in the final frame, back-to-back goals from Blondin and Heald tied the game up at 7-7. The Eagles netted two more, finishing the scoring at 9-7.
Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa.) stopped 18 shots in the loss for Thomas while Nick Zavorotny turned aside nine shots in the win.
The Terriers will hit the road on Wednesday, April 19 as they travel to Maine Maritime for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
