WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to SUNY Canton 76-68 in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on Friday evening at Larry Mahaney Gym.
The Terriers set out to an early lead, going up 11-4 with 11:26 left in the half. The Roos chipped away at the lead, tying the game at 16-16 with just over five to go in the period. Canton used a 12-2 run from that point to take a 28-18 advantage heading into the break.
Thomas brought the deficit down to five points with 15 minutes to go in the half and the Roos leading 34-29. Canton quickly took back command, holding a 47-32 lead three minutes later. The Roos continued to hold their cushion through the remainder of the half and went on to the 76-68 win.
Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) tied for the team-lead with 17 points apiece. Goodson also pulled in six rebounds and had four steals. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) chipped in 13 points, while Lovegeurson Fleurine (Fort Pierce, Fla.) added nine.
The Terriers will host SUNY Canton once again in a NAC contest on Saturday, December 1 at 1:00 PM at Larry Mahaney Gym.
