STANDISH, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team dropped an 89-79 non-conference game to Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday evening.
The teams traded the lead for the early parts of the first, with St. Joe's ultimately taking a 14-11 advantage five minutes in. The Monks maintained the lead throughout the rest of the half, but Thomas kept pace, never letting the lead get larger than seven and pulling the game to a 37-36 score at halftime.
The Terriers tied the game at 43-43 three minutes into the second half, and again at 52-52 at the 14:23 mark. The Monks pulled away at that point, going on an 18-7 run to take a 70-59 lead with just under eight minutes to go. Thomas made one last run, pulling within six at 83-77 with under two to go, but the Monks held on for the 89-79 win.
Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) scored 19 points off a 7-10 shooting performance with four boards, six assists and four steals, while Evan Arsenault (Berlin, N.H.) was 5-6 from three with 18 points. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
Thomas will play in the Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Wesleyan this weekend, taking on Western New England on Friday, November 16.
