WATERVILLE, ME – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) had announced its weekly awards and two Terrier players have earned awards. Senior forward Gabby Martell (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) has been named NAC Field Hockey Player of the Week and senior goalkeeper Abbie Charrier (Waldo, Maine / Mt. View) has been named NAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
Martell tallied three goals in two games this past week. In an important 4-0 NAC East win over Castleton, the senior scored the opening goal in the eighth minute and then tallied an insurance goal to put the Terriers up 3-0 in the 42nd minute. The win earned Thomas the final spot in the NAC East Tournament. Earlier in the week, the forward recorded one goal in a loss to Plymouth State.
Charrier made 19 saves on the week to record a .792 save percentage in a big 1-1 week for Thomas. The senior made ten saves in a 4-0 shutout victory over Castleton to earn the final spot in the NAC East Tournament. Earlier in the week, the senior stopped nine shots in a loss to Plymouth State.
The Terriers will travel to the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday, October 26, in the NAC East Semifinals at 2:00 p.m.
