NEW LONDON, NH – The Thomas College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to Colby-Sawyer in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.
In the defeat, the Terriers have now lost six one-goal games on the season, dropping to 3-9 (1-2 NAC) while the Chargers improve to 9-4 (1-2 NAC).
The Chargers got on the board first in the 12th minute as Colleen Burke netted her first goal of the season for an early 1-0 lead. The Terriers answered right back just before the half in the 34th as Miranda Gagne (Winslow, Maine / Winslow) evened the score on a feed from Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine / Noble).
With under three minute remaining in the contest, Colby-Sawyer netted the game-winner on a goal from Alie Jones to finish the game at 2-1.
Senior Abbie Charrier (Waldo, Maine / Mt. View) turned aside five shots in goal for the Terriers while Xena Ras earned the victory for the Chargers, stopping four shots.
The Terriers will return home for their next contest as they face the University of Maine at Farmington as part of homecoming and family weekend. The NAC game begins at 11:00 a.m. at Bernatchez Field.
