WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College Field Hockey team was shutout, 6-0, by undefeated Kean University on Sunday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
The loss is the six straight by the Terriers who fall to 2-6 (0-1 NAC) while the Cougars stay unbeaten at 9-0. Shauna LaMania recorded two goals and two assists in the victory for Kean.
Shauna LaMania got the Cougars on the board first, in the 13th minute when her shot in front of the Terrier cage found its way through on a pass from Jordan Colna. Six minutes later on a corner, Jenna Patrone used a loft shot up and over keeper Jessica Russell (Pembroke, NH / Bishop Brady) for an early two goal lead. Shauna LaMania chipped in her second goal of the game on a feed from Colna for a 3-0 lead at the half.
In the 52nd minute Krista LaMania slammed in a rebound that deflected off new Terrier goalkeeper Abbie Charrier (Waldo, Maine / Mt. View). In the 56th and 62nd minute Teresa Carr netted two quick goals on assists from Colna and Shauna LaMania to finish the scoring at 6-0.
Russell was given the loss in goal for the Terriers after stopping six shots in the first half. Charrier came in relief in the second half and turned aside ten shots. Bailee Mullen earned the victory in goal for the Cougars, making one save. Erin Smith and Brooklyn Peete played in goal for the second half.
The Terriers will return to action Saturday, October 1, as they travel to New England College for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
