HKY: Terriers Pick Up Two Wins on Weekend Roadtrip

The Thomas College ice hockey team swept their weekend road trip with an 8-2 win over Colby-Sawyer Friday and a 5-4 victory over New Haven on Saturday.

FRIDAY, 1/25 – THOMAS 8, COLBY-SAWYER 2

Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) and Matthew Deveaux (Brunswick, Maine) scored in the first to give Thomas the 2-0 lead after the first period. Thomas scored four to Colby-Sawyers two in the second, including two from Naranja. The Terriers added two more in the third to take the 8-2 win.

Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) earned the win, allowing two goals in net.

SATURDAY, 1/26 – THOMAS 5, NEW HAVEN 4

The Terriers held a 3-2 lead after the opening period, with Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.), Zach Gagne (Augusta, Maine) and Alex Berard (Winslow, Maine) scoring for Thomas. New Haven scored twice early in the second to take the 4-3 lead, but Gagne buried his second midway through the period to tie it at 4 going into the third. The score would remain tied deep into the final stanza, before Gagne finished off the hat-trick with six seconds left in regulation to give Thomas the 5-4 victory.

Green allowed four goals to earn the win in net.
