HKY: Wentworth Pots Four in 7-4 Win Over Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – Justin Wentworth (China, Maine) scored four goals as the Thomas College ice hockey team defeated Bates College 7-4 on Friday evening.

Alexander Waterman (Wayne, N.J.) scored on his first collegiate goal on his first shift to put Thomas ahead 1-0 early. Wentworth scored his first shortly after to put Thomas up 2-0, but Bates scored three unanswered to go into the first intermission up 3-2.

Ryan Kappelmann (Auburn, Maine) scored back-to-back goals in the second to give Thomas the lead, then Wentworth added two more to give Thomas a 6-3 lead after two.

The Bobcats got back within two, making it 6-4, but Wentworth scored his fourth minutes later to give Thomas the 7-4 win.

Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) was solid in net, stopping 38 shots.
