HKY: Berard's Hat-Trick Leads Thomas to 10-0 Win Over Bates

HALLOWELL, Maine – Alex Berard (Winslow, Maine) netted his second hat-trick of the season to lead the Thomas College ice hockey team to a 10-0 rout of Bates on Thursday night.

Rajhan Munnings (Cape Coral, Fla.) put the Terriers on the board just 18 seconds in to take the early 1-0 lead. Berard picked up his first midway through the period on the power play to send Thomas into the first intermission up 2-0.

Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.) scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second to double the Thomas lead to 4-0. Cameron Bigelow (West Gardiner, Maine) scored on the man advantage with under two to go to make it 5-0 heading into the third.

Munnings and Berard scored back-to-back goals again, this time in a span of just over a minute to push the lead to 7-0. Jacob Larochelle (Brewer, Maine) scored with 4:45 remaining in the period, before Berard finished the hat-trick with just over three minutes left. Benjamin MacLennan (Portland, Maine) scored just before the final buzzer to give Thomas the 10-0 victory.

Dalton Bowie (Augusta, Maine) earned the shutout win in net for Thomas.
